Going To Mecca
Going To Mecca
us American letterboxers, that would be the holy grail. Which leads me to a
suggestion. Perhaps, through this Board, some of us could coordinate and
make a trip there together. As with all things of this nature, a date
pretty far in the future should be picked so that people can make plans.
Not to mention save for it. Even if only 3 to 5 people went, it would still
be a fun time. Keeping the itinerary over there flexible would probably
work better too.
I doubt I would have the chance to get over there for a few years, but
others might be more inclined. It sure would make for some good reports
too, when you all got back. An idea, maybe a stupid one, but there you have it.

RE: [LbNA] Going To Mecca
couple of friends of mine in London the other day, and they'd never heard of
letterboxing. When I told them it originated in Dartmoor, they each
basically responded with "Oh, that explains it." I'm not exactly sure what
that's supposed to mean.
But back to the trip, I'm sure we could get a great rate if we were to plan
far enough in advance, and go as a group, therefore qualifying for a
discount. It's something to toss around.
Happy letterboxing!

Dartmoor! Well, I'm all for a group trip. Anything to save some simoleons!
I had considered doing a courier trip out there but i'm not sure how well
that would work out.
Perhaps a trip to Hawaii as well? Maybe our next LBNA Gathering could be in
HI?

Re: Going To Mecca
heading off to "Mecca"! If anyone is interested, a dear friend of
mine owns Legendary Tours, a tour company based in Dublin that
specializes in tours of places in Irish myth and legend. If I make it
to Dartmoor, I will also plan to go to Dublin and take one of his
fabulous tours as well.

Re: [LbNA] Going To Mecca
Hello All
The Space Travellers are going on a Christmas pilgrimage
to Dartmoor. (Is this some kind of religous mixed metaphor?) Graham has
been an invaluable help in suggesting a good place to stay and how to get
the correct map of the park, as well as lots of other important details.
Unfortunately, we will only be there for about two and a half days, but
we hope to score a good number of boxes, and perhaps even place one. You
may be sure that I will give the list a full report when we return.
When we made plans to travel last summer, I didn't
even know about letterboxing. Now we are going on a Haj.

BTW do Dartmoor boxes count in my P/F tally?

>Hmmm, seems like there is definitely some interest out there in going to Dartmoor!Well Dartmoor is a very wild place in UK terms !
Very Hillbilly and Backwoodsie and well a little bit spooky too !
.and...Letterboxing is still a "secret hobby" over here !
Maybe you can even persuade an old Moorland Wizard into being a moorland letterboxing guide too...Happy Boxing
